“SOUL TIES”

Understanding the power and purpose of love.

What is a Soul Tie?

A soul tie is a phrase which some people use to refer to a spiritual connection between two people.
In many cases, it is said to come into existence after two people have been physically intimate. In others, it is said to form after an intensely close spiritual or emotional relationship.
Common examples of soul ties refer to those formed with partners from previous relationships. That’s because this person had such a strong role in and influence on your life for such a long time that a deep bond or tie was formed.
That bond may not have necessarily ended when the relationship did.

How can we break Soul Ties?

When we understand the power and purpose of love, when we can have control of our Soul Ties.
Song of Solomon 8:6 gives us a clear description of how we are to understand love.
Song of Solomon 8:6 NIV
6 Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.

8:6a. In Old Testament times a seal was used to indicate ownership of a person’s valued possessions. So the beloved asked to be her lover’s most valued possession, a possession that would influence his thoughts (over your heart) and his actions (over your arm). Such a demanding request required the explanation which she gave in verses 6b–7a.

8:6b–7a. These verses sum up the nature and power of the love depicted in the Song. It is as universal and irresistible as death, exclusive and possessive (in the sense of being genuinely concerned for the one loved) as the grave, passionate (as blazing fire) and as invincible and persevering as many waters and rivers. And all this is true because love is supported by the Creator who possesses all power. The words like a mighty flame are, literally, “like the very flame of the Lord” (cf. NIV marg.). Thus the Lord is portrayed as the Source of this powerful love.

“NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT POWER”

Simply put, love is how we communicate value. If you truly love someone you value them.
Where we go wrong in this process as humans is not by picking a partner that doesn’t value us, but by picking the wrong source of our value.

Created From Love

At the inception of the world, God created mankind because he loved his creation and he wanted it to be valued and cared for.
Genesis 1:27–31 ESV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
We were made to care for God’s creation and receive our value from serving Him.
Serving God is beautiful and is a healthy interchange and perfect exchange of hope and healing for service.
When we serve God with our lives and spend our time investing in the relationship we share with Him, he offers us peace, joy, hope, and a deep deep love. (Phil. 4)
The purpose of love was rooted in a deep care and adoration for God’s creation, and we are God’s pinnacle creation.
The beautiful exchange of love breaks down when we begin to live for the love of others instead of from the love of God.

As Long as You Love Me

Have you ever met a person who is desperate to be loved by others?
If not, you have now, because that is a constant struggle in my life.
Understanding the purpose and power of love is a deep passion of mine because it was something I struggled to understand for a very long time.
It became such a perplexing topic for me that I ended up writing all my papers in college about it. I have spent thousands of hours researching and writing hundreds of pages on this topic.
It’s something I have a confident understanding and grip on now, but was not an easy road.
